Dan Abia, Acting Chairman NDDC |
Acting Chairman of the Niger Delta Development Corporation, Mr. Bassey Dan Abia has vowed that he would uphold ethical standards, shun corruption and fully implement the mandate of leadership as a sacred trust to the people of the Niger Delta and the Nigerian nation.
Mr. Abia in an interview with Pointblanknews.com said that he brings a wealth of experience and proven integrity in implementing a multi-layer program of development in the Niger Delta and rejuvenation of NDDC.
Dan Abia was named acting chairman of the corporation after Mr. Sam Edem was summarily fired by President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua last week to pave for investigation of charges of corruption and misappropriation of Millions of Dollars.
The new NDDC boss acknowledged that there have been breaches of trust on the part of past parastatals and their top functionaries who had the mandate of fixing the myriads of problems in Nigeria’s oil producing areas, yet he promised to make a difference by staying focused, working to improve the Niger Delta area and being honest.
He said that “we should not rejoice over the fall of one of us who is a son of Niger Delta, we should rather move ahead and find a way of tackling the many problems before our area.”
According to him “my focus would be to refocus the NDDC and return it back to what it was meant to achieve for the Niger Delta Area. We need all the support we can get to make this happen and with my determination, we would touch the lives of every Niger Deltan in a positive way.”
