AMAECHI, LABOUR LEADERS FOR WORKERS PARLIAMENT
GOVERNOR Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, one of the key oil-producing states in Nigeria, and some frontline labour leaders in the country, are billed to grace a workers' parliament of sorts being packaged by the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE) as part of activities for the commissioning of the union's multi-million naira secretariate complex in Port Harcourt.
Although the formal commissioning ceremony is for Friday, Governor Amaechi is scheduled to have an interactive session with workers.
NULGE National President, Prince Kingsley Ogba, is also expected to lead some industrial union leaders for talks on how trade unions can be self-reliant in a democracy.
The union secretariate complex which is called NULGE Consulate, is a three-storey building that was initiated by the state President of the union, Apostle Godwin Diri.
The facility has a 700-sitting capacity hall, a comprehensive business centre, a 150-sitting capacity chamber for talk shop, a restaurant with capacity for 60, an Internet centre for specialised research work, 10 room suitts, office apartments with auditorium, and a hall of fame.
To ensure steady power supply, the consulate has 200KVA substation transformer as well AS150 KVA UK sound-proof generating set.
Meanwhile, Diri, says the workers' parliament will provide Governor Amaechi an opportunity again to reach out to workers with his administration's overall expectation from them in the task of making Rivers a more better state.
