In a short telephone conversation with P.M.News, this morning, from his base in the United Kingdom, Adedayo said he fled for his life. Asked to comment on his disagreement with governor Daniel, the media aide said: “To God be the glory and by His mercy, all is well. I need to put my head in a safe place. It’s not yet time to talk. When the time comes, everything will be disclosed.

“If not for my smartness and bravery, what we are saying now would have been another story entirely. What I know is that the governor no longer likes my face. I’ve seen the handwriting on the wall and what I believe caused all these brouhaha may not be unconnected with the negative publicity trailing his activities and he (the governor) believes that I was responsible for the leaking of some vital documents.

“He even believes that there is a rapport between me and the ANPP gubernatorial candidate, in the state, in the 2007 election, Senator Ibikunle Amosun. “For now, let us keep our fingers crossed and watch events as they unfold. I will prefer to be silent for now as my life is more important to me.”

P.M.News gathered that Adedayo fled Abeokuta, Saturday night, to Ghana, from where he boarded a flight to London. Before catching his flight, he was said to have sent a text message to Otunba Daniel, telling him how he was attacked by some AK 47 rifle-wielding men along Ilishan/Ago-Iwoye Road, while returning to Abeokuta from his hometown in Ijebu Ife.

Also reacting to P.M.News’ report yesterday, on his escape to London, Adedayo, in a statement sent to the P.M.News website, said: “Yes, it is true I travelled abroad. But kindly note that I am not seeking asylum. I have never sought for one before, and God willing, will never seek for one….

“It is true one of the two vehicles used by the six guys to attack me had the Ogun state number plate. But that should not translate automatically into saying the governor, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, had a hand in what happened.” Adedayo also confirmed that his wife was not arrested and that it was true a lady was arrested after he had fled.
