As Governor Peter Odili plots his escape from Nigeria, more facts emerged that a contract staff at the Nigerian Embassy in Brazil is the one facilitating the Governors escape from Nigeria.
Pointblanknews gathered authoritatively that the contract staff has been taking care of some of the Governors business especially when it comes to money laundering and other financial dealings.
The contract staff, a former staff of the Nigerian embassy is said to have lived in Brazil for thirteen years.
A source who would not want to be named told Pointblanknews that several Millions of Dollars that could not be traced to Odili by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC during its investigation of the Governor is said to be held in trust for Odili by his close confidant in Brazil.
Pointblanknews also learnt that besides helping Governor Odili with stolen money, the contract staff played a major role that led to the purchase of the two jets by the Governor.
A source added that part of the $120 Million said to have been transferred by Odili through Rockson Engineering Nigeria Ltd and a lawyer friend to foreign banks is being kept in trust in Brazil. Rockson Engineering Nigeria Ltd is owned by Johnson Arumemi-Akhide, of Arik Air, another close confidant and business associate of Governor Odili.
Sources hinted that Odili is currently worried especially with his current poor relationship with President Olusegun Obasanjo who has denied every overture made by the Governor to mend fences and spared from further embarrassment by the EFCC.
It was learnt that with the emergence of Musa Ya’Adua as President, Odili is said not to be too comfortable as he is not as close to Yar’Adua like he was to Obasanjo.
Pointblanknews gathered that at a recent meeting with security chiefs, Nuhu Ribadu insisted on the need to for all the security organs to be at alert and ensure that politicians indicted are not giving any room to escape prosecution.
Specifically, Ribadu it was learnt had met with officials of the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, the State Security Service, SSS, the Police, the Customs and other relevant agencies.
A source at the EFCC stated that the Commission’s main priority at the moment is making sure that all those Governors indicted remain in the country to face trials after May 29.
“One of our major concerns at the moment is to make sure that all those Governors indicted are not given any room to escape to any country. We want to make sure that they face justice and account for their crimes.” The source hinted Pointblanknews.
Besides Odili, other Governors who are being closely monitored are Adamu Muazu, Bauchi, Ayo Fayose, Ekiti, Orji Kalu, Abia, George Akume, Benue, Boni Haruna, Adamawa, Lucky Igbinedion, Edo, Joshua Dariye, Plateau, Atahiru Bafarawa, Sokoto, Jolly Nyame, Taraba. Ali Modu Sheriff, Borno.
