NUC, Sam Egwu....Please save us from UNIBEN lecturers!

I would like to use this medium to ask the National University, Commission, the Minister of Education and the President of the Federal Repub;ic of Nigeria to save us from the greedy and lustful hands of University of Benin Lecturers.

 I am beginning to lose faith in the new media in Nigeria as I have written several letters to other editors (not Pointblanknews) about the happenings but naught has come of it. I strongly believe that this news media will not bury this story.

Sir, I would like to petition the commission on happenings in the University of Benin, particularly Microbiology, Mathematics and Engineering Department. Of the three, depending on who you talk to Microbiology seems to be the worst. Where lecturers are demanding as much as N50,000- N100,000 from students to bestow one favour or the other. It is so rampant within this department and I sincerely wonder if the Administration is not aware of this. The President talks about improving the education system of the country, how can this be done when "money for marks/grade" are the order of the day? I would plead for a complete overhaul of the university system possibly using UNIBEN as an example.

I am going to give you the names of some of the guilty lecturers in order of worst down. However, for fear of repercussion, I am not including my real name. Some of the said lecturers have links to students of the secret cult and I fear for my life.

If you dont believe me, send someone to investigate, you will be amazed at what you will find obtains in this department in particular and the university in general. Where do they expect young students from poor- average background to get such money? The girls end up prostituting while the boys turn to 419 and even armed robbery to "survive" and graduate with coveted degrees that have not been meritted.

I pray sir that you use your office to save the students of this institution and our education system. Thank you sir.
