“Don’t appoint tainted politicians to NDDC Board!”
…Ijaw National Congress warns YarAdua.
The Ijaw National Congress Chairman, Lagos Chapter, Denzil Amagbe Kentebe has called on President Yar’Adua to immediately appoint the new members to the NDDC board, and avoid a long break in the activities of the body meant to facilitate the rapid development of the Niger Delta region.
The INC leader calls on the President not to politicise the appointments; especially to the four important positions of namely, the Chairman, the Managing Director, the Executive Director (Finance and Administration) and the Executive Director (Projects).
‘The President should appoint persons with untainted character who are committed to the rapid development of our region. The Chairman and MD must be people who understand the developmental needs of the region and are able to command the respect of all stakeholders within the region. We do not need tainted or controversial politicians or political jobbers.’
Mr. Kentebe reminded the President that the caliber of persons chosen to the board will go a long way in showing the government’s commitment to the development of the Niger Delta and thereby resolving the Niger Delta crisis.
