Dear Sir,

Why distract Abia Governor?

In recent time one has read one thing or the other about set-out distractions of the administration of Governor Theodore Orji.

Before now then was a ‘photo-trick’ picture of his worship at the Okija Shrine. He acquitted himself properly before the Court of Appeal that handled the Abia governorship case between him and his opponent, Onyema Ugochukwu.

This was followed by an arranged and alleged report by TELL magazine that he was deadly corrupt. To this, he had boldly requested the anti-graph agencies to investigate him; it is believed that this has taken place and nothing spectacular may have been found of the false alarm.

Recently, was rumoured of plan for his impeachment. Another being that plans are rife that the brother of the immediate past Governor, Orji Uzor Kalu was being prepared to take over from Theordore come 2011. Moreover Theodore has remained loyal and in cordial relationship with his mentor, Orji Kalu, and this does not make him a stooge. Kalu has made it clear that Theodore needs cooperation of all to continue with the good work he is doing; this is unlike the situations with some governors and their mentors.

Recently some group that called themselves Abia Elders in Abuja went childish to question why the governor should go for a rest and probably medical check-up.

But the most recent is where he had written to the Police to investigate who had cloned his MTN number 07037723390 with which the criminal had been using to defraud the governor’s contacts.

It is unfortunate that these forces are not giving this governor any breathing space to face the governance he was elected for. For goodness sake Abia needs to move faster as shown by his recent approach to projects, etc and all hands should be on deck to support progressive Abia State.
