Again, the Vanguard lied

VANGUARD Newspaper , repeated its now familiar deceptive, misleading and mischievous, so-called reports in its online edition of Friday, May 29, 2009 trying, without success, to discredit the proceedings of the court and the hooliganism displayed against Mr Giwa Amu at the court premises by a young man identified as the son of Mr. & Mrs. Sam Amuka.

We state, unequivocally that if indeed there were any inadvertent mix-up in the details of any of the proceedings published by pointblanknews.com since the prosecution of Mr. Steve Ogwu-Chinua began, we apologize to the Magistrate. We do not owe VANGUARD any apology. We believe in the due process of the law, and are firm believers of the truism: Innocent until proven guilty. We will never use our medium to prosecute or convict anyone, what we harp on is, if anyone is found culpable , he or she should face the full weight of the law. Even if you are the wife of a media mogul.

The piece of toxic concoction which the VANGUARD attempted to sell to a no longer lethargic public failed in its entirety to address the important allegation of the alleged gruesome decapitation of the yet to be identified 11 year old boy. .

The copy hurriedly pasted on their epileptic website on Friday March 29, 2009 admitted that Mrs. Amuka was introduced to some spiritualists in London, by one faceless Lola, in an attempt to find a cure for a sick child.

In London ,when someone falls sick, no matter how bad, the first person to consult is an orthodox physician. So why did the phantom Lola recommend ritualist Islamic clerics to Mrs. Amuka? What would they have done to heal the sick boy? Another question to Mr. & Mrs. Amuka, VANGUARD and Nigerian Police is this. Was Mrs. Amuka bundled into the plane from London to the ritualist’s shrine since the Nigerian Police claimed she was forced or stage managed to hold the 11 year old boy’s head?

The VANGUARD Newspaper admitted in their so-called background information, that Mrs. Amuka did place hands on the murdered boy’s head. Why did she do that in the shrine? Was the boy her son? Friday’s Lagos Weekend a publication of Daily Times, alleged that after the unfortunate child was killed that day, the ritualists were actually preparing to kill another person before the Police stormed the crime scene. So they were virtually operating a slaughter chamber. And that was were Mrs. Amuka the holy wife of Pemu Amuka went to seek healing for her sick child who lived in London.

They said she was forced to do everything that she did. Who forced her? Why was there no such indication in the original Panti Police report, purportedly destroyed after ₦ 4m was allegedly paid to Babatunde Jonathan, a police officer, who is now at large.

They claimed that she sent forty thousand Pounds to “blackmailers” from London; she should present the paper trail of the transaction and the people who allegedly received the money. However, the question remains, why would anyone pay such huge amount to blackmailers if they had nothing to hide. If she never went to the shrine, all she needed to do was call the police, not abscond to London and send forty thousand pounds to silence blackmailers. This does not look, feel, or sound right.

How was Mrs. Amuka able to leave Nigeria for London While facing murder charge? How well has Mrs. Amuka conducted herself over the affair? How come she was locked up for three days without the husband knowing her where about?

VANGUARD described our reporters as faceless. This is laughable because the issue here is not about faces, or claims of inconsequential inaccuracies, but about an alleged gruesome murder in a shrine. For the records, our home page has the pictures of our editors.

Yes we are standard bearers for holding ourselves accountable in the media in order to better serve the cause of truth and objectivity. We do not apologize for that. VANGUARD is the one that has bewitched the press to avoid reporting the truth.

The infantile smear mitigated by Mr. Pemu Amuka and his crew, did not do much to dissuade the public from believing that the Vanguard is the rookie public relations arm of the in effective and utterly corrupt Nigeria Police.

The public must call on Chief Amuka to stop parading himself as the Grand Patron og Newspaper proprietors of Nigeria.

The General Manager and Executive-in-Chief of the VANGUARD must also step down as the President of Nigerian Guild of Editor.
