My Dear Editor,

Sanusi's courageous advice on Yar'Adua's 7-Point Agenda

I hope that President Yar’Adua is not regretting the appointment of Sanusi Lamido Sanusi as Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria. He should not but thank God and have a rethink on the technocrat’s truthful advice concerning the 7-point Agenda.

The new CBN governor had told the President, nay the nation that it is time to get moving than visioning. Sanusi reasoned that Obj envisioned constant power by year 2000 but spent eight years and left without fulfilling it. Now Yar’Adua has included the same topic in his 7-point Agenda and Sanusi has seen that Yar’Adua may not achieve it if he fails to take it as single priority, first.

I admire the President and would not want him to be judged wrongly by posterity as likely Obi, Akpabio and few others who may have not taken in good stride genuine advices: Arc Attah had advised his successor on certain uncompleted infrastructures and few new ones introduced by the new administration but instead of accepting advice coming from a technocrat and his mentor, went into array of abuses on him; Governor Obi has been advised by his wife not to think second term but it seems Obi is adamant. Many great men had fallen from grace to grass for not listening to good counsels.

Sanusi as well regrets the fact that Nigeria produces crude oil, but instead of getting our refineries working again, its leadership favoured importation of refined petroleum products. He posited that what we need are infrastructures and electricity generation to get the nation up again.

Therefore, it  was unnecessary and useless the reply which the President gave Sanusi, as published in most national daily of Monday June 8, 2009.
