Dear Sir,
Senator Ndoma Egba: The new face of Cross River?
It is my wish to really thank God for giving (us) Cross River the likes of Barrister Ndoma-Agba, SAN, Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Senator Victor Ndoma Egba, SAN, remains epitome of good representation.
I have always admired this distinguished Senator. He really made me proud as a Cross Riverian when he politely lectured the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, His Excellency Barrister Godswill Akpabio (back page of Guardian newspaper 4/6/09) on how not to bring us down by his claim that Cross River State is no longer a littoral State.
If according to the Governor, that since ceding Bakassi to Cameroun through international instrumentality, Cross River ceased to be oil-bearing State, did it not occur to him that it follows that all oil wells associated with that action now belong to Cameroun? Therefore is he assuming that the additional 76 oil-wells to Akwa came from Cameroun; did Akwa Ibom as a State have any boundary adjustment with another country? The Akwa Ibom Governor should do well not rejoice over what would soon be reversed. I am sure the indigenes of his State are not with him over his stand on this matter.
Notable Cross River elders have joined the bandwagon in asking that their oil wells be returned to them without delays. Nevertheless, I blame our Governor, Senator Imoke whose approach on this matter remains disappointing to most of us. Is he afraid of his colleague? Why does he go beggary on this issue? He should call a spade a spade just like Senator Ndoma Egba and others have carried on.
