Dear Sir,

IBN NaAllah and his private jet

advertisement

It was an interesting read, the story published of the House of Representative Ibn NaAllah on the front page of Daily Sun newspaper of June 15, 2009 wherein he tried to justify his reasons for buying a private jet. He had posited that it is cheaper buying and travelling in a private jet such as his, than fleet of cars. He even insinuated that he bought the jet for US$48,000 and maintains it with less than what he uses in maintaining his private cars . According to him, it is safer to travel by his private jet from his village which he says has a facility for light aircrafts’ landing; he is free from accidents and armed robbery attacks, on the road, etc. He even quoted a portion of Bible which says that “people perish for lack of knowledge ”.

One would have appreciated what this young lawyer, a member of the Federal House of Assembly, revealed in the story. The revelations are so enticing and convincing that one would like to give it a trial by consulting him further.

But I am disturbed to learn that he was the same person who had shouted at the floor of the house that it would pay Nigeria better to waste the twenty million people in the Niger Delta to save the rest one hundred million Nigerians. In that his arrogant statement, I saw in him someone who was wrongly selected or elected to serve at the National Assembly; there is no two thoughts about this.

In the two different scenarios, this guy seems not to be the same person, but he is. People like Hon Ibn NaAllah should be among those to be properly investigated and if possible sent to a place where his brain should also be examined.
