Dear Governor
Letter to The Imo State Governor, Ikedi Ohakim:
I am a engineer by profession and based in the United States of America. Before April, 2007, no indigene of Isiala Mbano Local Government Area had ever “smelled” the post of Imo State Governor. It is a unique pleasure to have you, a dedicated indigenous son of Isiala Mbano as the governor of Imo State.
Among your numerous achievements in Imo State, I commend you for the accreditation of respective disciplines in Imo State University, and the maternal and child care service initiatives. These are among the privileges the United States and other developing countries are enjoying. Thanks Mr. Governor for giving our people such tremendous opportunities
Speaking about healthcare services in developed country, I believe that Imo State has well educated and articulated individuals that have the knowledge, skills, abilities to assist you in actualizing your dream of healthcare in Imo State. The achievements and contributions of Dr. Callistus Egwim in areas of healthcare and public education in Imo State have attracted public attention. Far away in United States, I have received numerous testimonies from different individuals about Dr. Callistus Egwim has impacted their lives.
Dr. Callistus Egwim was born in Umuodom Ibeme Ugiri in Isiala Mbano Local Government of Imo State. He attended Ibeme High School in 1982 .He was offered a provisional admission to study medicine at University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1985. He graduated from University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 1991 with honor in Medicine and surgery.
After he completed the Houseman ship and the National Youth Services Corps (NYSC) in 1993, he was employed as a Medical Officer at Egbunadazie Hospital in Mushin Lagos State. After a while, he obtained a Master’s Degree in Public Health at Imo State University. Dr. Callistus Egwim belongs to Membership boards/ association Nigeria Medical & Dental Council, and
Nigeria medical association. He also works at General Hospital Awo-Omamma in Imo State, as a Principal medical in charge. His outstanding job and dedication to human services and public health is a great sign of relief to the community.
Since 2001, Dr. Egwim has been given free medical treatments to many patients in his private clinics in Imo State, who could not afford their medical expenses. This is what I called “services” to the community.
In Ibeme Town and surrounding communities in Imo State, Dr. Callistus Egwim has saved the lives of many who would have been dead because they were unable to afford their medical expenses. He is well known for given medical services to every patients regardless of their social and economic status. Honestly speaking, he values human lives more than wealth. These are kinds of patriotism in American and European countries
Dr. Egwim has supported lots of Imo State indigenes both home and abroad in respect to education. Presently, he is sponsoring some students of Imo state Universities, and he has helped many patients who need special medical care to travel overseas. In our society today, a person with similar personality and service to mankind is not easy to come by.
It is my outmost belief that Dr.C. Egwim is a very patriotic citizen of Imo State, who is willing to contribute to the well being of people of Imo State. Although, Dr. Egwim might be happy with me writing this without his knowledge, but I believe it is our duty as the people to give “credit to whom credit is due “
In conclusion, Mr. Governor, I believe that Dr Callistus Egwim would be qualified and willing to be part of your team where he will bring among other things, innovations, great leadership and insuppressible passion for public health and well being, adding value to life.
Thanks once again
Yours faithfully,
Ifeanyi Ibeh
