Zain Nigeria announces appointment of New Marketing Director
Lagos, Nigeria; July 1, 2009: Leading mobile operator, Zain Nigeria has announced the appointment of Mostafa Younes as Marketing Director.
Younes, an aggressive market development strategist and team builder will work directly with Zain Nigeria’s Chief Commercial Officer, Shamel Hanafi in attaining Zain’s goal of becoming the market leader in Nigeria by 2011.
In his position, Younes will be responsible for designing, delivering and positioning Zain Nigeria’s products and services as a value added proposition to the Nigerian market. He will also oversee the company’s marketing strategic business plan and marketing operations.
The new marketing director who has over 17 years experience in Marketing, Sales and Business Development will further develop, implement and maintain Zain Nigeria’s marketing plan with all its ingredients such as market research and analysis, market segmentation, pricing and Loyalty and retention programs.
Prior to joining Zain Nigeria, Younes was the Marketing Director of Public Telecommunications Company “Bravo”, a subsidiary of Qatar Telecom, QTel. While in “Bravo”, he grew the company’s customer base more than 50% in both 2007 and 2008, increased Bravo’s share of the target market beyond 35% and positioned the company as a force to reckon with in the Saudi Telecoms market.
Also as Marketing Director, Younes pioneered, built and led the marketing team of Microsoft Saudi Arabia from June 2005 through July, 2006. Specifically, he geared the proper marketing engine to drive growth and demand generation/creation, mapping and localizing Microsoft’s route to market campaigns. He also led the different products marketing groups to achieve more than 35% overall growth for Microsoft in Saudi Arabia.
Fluent in English, French and Arabic, Zain Nigeria’s new Marketing Director has also headed the marketing department of Orascom Telecom both in Tunisia and Algeria, from July 2002 to May 2005. In Orascom, Younes managed the Marketing Department and scored big with the introduction of a bouquet of Value Added Services (VAS) including Multimedia Message Service (MMS), Infotainment portal project, advanced SIM services project and electronic credit transfer service.
Younes, a first class graduate of Electronics and Communications from the Cairo University, Egypt started his professional career with AT&T/NCR Egypt as Sales Accounts Manager in August, 1992. He later rose to become the Major Accounts Director, NCR Kuwait in January 1997. He left NCR in February 2001 to set up a Value Added Services Company along with other Egyptian partners.
Married with two Children, Younes has worked and lived in seven different countries (Egypt, USA, Kuwait, Qatar, Tunisia, Algeria and Saudi Arabia) and has gained a wide exposure to different lifestyles, cultures and markets, which he will, without doubt, bring this to bear in the Nigerian market.
