President at the Castle in Cape Coast, Says “It Is a Place of Sadness”

Obama saw the Church that or chapel that was built right inside the dungeon. He said it was ‘painful’ and that people would tolerate evil. He called it a ‘place of sadness’ he said it was a source of hope that as sad as     could    it was also possible to overcome.

At about 3:30p.m, a convoy arrives and drove under the blue canopy there was President Barrack Obama, his wife Michel and their daughters. Joining after them was the host president John Evans Attah Mills.

Obama was in dark glasses because of the blinding sun. Mrs. Obama has special feelings for the castle that directly overlooks the Atlantic Ocean because it was said that her great, great , great grandfather had said that they were kept in the cape coast castle before being shipped into slavery in the U.S. The huge building was cordoned for the day. It was opened to the public or tourists. Only a small section of the crowd was able to make it in there, were sharp-shooters or snipers positioned on the roof of the building. A man in white attire, who obviously must be some high government official, was explaining the significance of the castle and of the castle and the events there to august visitor. There are several castle along the West African coast and all over Africa, particularly in Nigeria Senegal and Ghana, but the Elmina , Cape Coast Castle have played the most dastardly and  infamous role in the Trans-Atlantic     slave trade. They were carried on the shoulders of fellow blacks into the expansive reception arena. The huge castle was arranged in white color. To break the monotony and dominancy of the color, palm and coconut trees around were painted in Ghanaian National colors. The towns and villages living the route to Cape Coast were whitewashed; it would be good if that kind of neatness continues after Obama must have left. Unless one is a journalist, government official or the official delegation, no one could break through the barricade, without identification, no matter the race or color.

There were several people from Nigeria, Togo, Benin, Liberia and other neighboring countries. Oxygen was rare resource. Some people could not breathe properly. Cool breeze from the adjoining Atlantic gives spawn of fresh air. Obama later unveiled a plague announcing the date and significance of his visit. On the door was written, ‘Door of Return”. There were dark dungeons and tunnels, where in it was nearly completely impossible to see. One of the Obama children was weeping and it was also possible to see that President Obama and First lady Michel were not happy   wait they heard. Yet they must have the spiritual experience of unquantifiable catharsis
