Sir,

The Same EFCC: On a seating Governor Babangida Aliyu

advertisement

What right does EFCC got barging into the office of a seating governor, with a gun, in the governor’s absence, to collect whatever document or material, as reported on the front page of the Leadership newspapers July 15, 2009?

Could it be the same EFCC that told us but for being that it has to do with a serving governor, it (EFCC) would have revealed how (that) first-term governor bought property in Abuja worth over one billion naira few months after assumption of office? Could it be the same EFCC that told the world that some governors use and push drugs but for being serving ones, their names would not be published? Could it be the same EFCC that could not proceed investigating what a foreign embassy called its attention to where a brother to a south-south governor, while requesting for (that) country’s Visa, presented a personal bank account statement that had nearly two billion naira lodgment in it? Could it be the same EFCC that was petitioned by a frustrated citizen of a south-south state alleging that a contract for rehabilitation of a 2-kilometer road at the cost of N207million was awarded to his company by the previous government and while he was on the job, the new government cancelled and awarded it to another for N581million; in the same petition, the petitioner gave graphic account of how that state’s funds are being misappropriated, which included a N200million spent on wedding ceremonies of the governor’s brother?

After all this, and as reported in the Leadership newspaper, can EFCC tell the public its right to act the way it did on Governor Aliyu who was in Abuja attending official matters? This sounds like Nigige-gate but by the Police that kidnapped the seating governor. What is the EFCC up to and whose interest are they really serving?
