Sir,
Confusion in the PDP leadership
I was not surprised at what is going on in the PDP (now) under the
chairmanship of Prince Vincent Ogbulafor. As it now represents, PDP is the
home of dissidents; it is the house of decampees and returnees who seek
greener pastures in opportunities creatable by the party in power.
Among the decampees is Prince Ogbulafor himself an ANPP candidate that
contested Abia governorship election and lost to then PDP’s Orji Uzor
Kalu. He found his way into the PDP and now chairs the ‘great’ party.
There is no doubt that the style of leadership of this national chairman
of PDP has brought with it rancor and confusion to many state chapters of
the party; from Anambra to Plateau, etc, and from his state of origin
(Abia) to now Imo state where he had single-handedly announced the
dissolution of the Imo state executive council of the party. The former
Senate President Ken Nnamanni saw this as an aberration and Ogbulafor’s
action has brought further disunity to previous peaceful Imo chapter to
the extent that factional party executives now exist.
This is different from the allegations making the rounds that Ogbulafor
uses his position to secure contracts from various state governors; and
that of Akwa Ibom where he is said to have won a N10billion rural
electrification contract.
Where you have a weak leader in President Yar’Adua, this situation may
continue while the party may dip further into mockery, with disdain. Who
can help PDP?
