All hail PDP-President Umaru Yar'Adua

I get worried seeing how the President is being dragged as if he does not know his right from left. For the umpteenth time, it is pertinent to mention that when a President is elected, he is for the whole country.  But the way the elected President Umaru Yar’Adua is going, will put no one in doubt that he is only for the PDP.

Upon the voices suggesting to the President not to just be interested in visiting rallies that are only designed for decamping governors, he still gets neck-deep into it. The count goes on, Zamfara, Bauchi, Imo and probably more to come; all in attempt to make the country one-party-state. But this will not work because even devil has opposition and even if PDP-controlled federal and state governments are the devils, there should be opposition.

In most countries you see their Presidents visiting sites. Can PDP-President Yar’Adua point at any one federal project site he ever visited on a fact-finding tour. Even flying by helicopter over a chaotic/bad road like Shagamu-Benin road would have made people believe that he cares; visiting one of the sites of the power stations has not even occurred to him. He attends to frivolities. He visits PDP states like he did to Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, etc, laying foundation to controversial projects at bloated costs that would not add immediate value on the masses.

Since the PDP-controlled government has decided that there must not be any opposition to it, it is left to the Press to play such roles and publishing this type of letter to the Editor is one of such.  There must be checks and balances in governance. The Press should sit up to their responsibilities.
