Global Fleet takes over sponsorship of Nigeria Media friends

The Global fleet group and Nicon group of Companies have announced the take over of the full sponsorship of the Annual Nigeria Media Friends and Gala nite.

This was made known at the weekend during the second edition of the event which was held at the Lagos Sheraton hotel by the Chairman of Global Fleet and Nicon Group of Companies, Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim.

Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim who also chaired the event announced his companies’ readiness to take up the bill for the last event held on Saturday.

He commended the organizers of the event for a good job and asked all well meaning Nigerians to accord Journalists the respect they deserve.

He stated that the rationale behind his venturing into publishing is to add value to life and for national development. According to him:” The success or otherwise of the Nigeria national lies in the hands of media practitioners .He asked them to see their assignment as a call to duty”

In his welcome address, Chris Kehinde nwandu, President, Nigeria Media friends said the event which made its debut last year was conceived to identify, celebrate and honour members of the pen profession who have distinguished themselves in a profession that is good at celebrating others but forgets to celebrate its own

In his own speech a veteran journalist and former governor of Ogun State , Aremo Segun Osoba commended the Nigeria Media for upholding the ideals of the profession .He thank them for their doggedness and requested them not to rest on their oars.

Other speakers at the event were Engr Ernest Ndukwe, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigerian Communications commission, Mr. Ranti Akerele, the Honourable commissioner of Information, Ondo state who represented Governor Olusegun Mimiko, Mr Gbenga Adefaye, the President Nigerian Guild of editors, Mallam Mohammed Garba, President Nigerian Union of Journalists and Bashorun Dele Momodu who delivered the annual NMF lecture.

The highlight of the event was the annual awards to Simon Kolawole, Editor Thisday, Mideno Bayagbon, Editor Vanguard, Mrs. Funke Egbemode, Editor, Sunday Sun, Casmir Igbokwe,Editor Sunday Punch, Loye Amzat, Editor in Chief , News of the People ,Bola Onanuga, former MD/CEO of National Mirror Newspaper .Others were Chris Ubosi MD/CEO Classic 97.3FM and The Beat 99.9 FM Lagos, Mrs.Ngozi Nssien General mangers,NTA International., in Martin Ilo Special Adviser on Media to the Enugu State Governor and as well as Idowu Ajanaku, Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State governor on  Public Affairs The event was attending by dignitaries from all works of life
