Dear Editor,
Pete Edochie and the kidnappers
Reading the graphic details of Pete Edochie’s kidnap saga, one was in sympathy with Nigeria. Pete mentioned that the boys treated him with respect and called him; father. According to him the boys had sophisticated arms and ammunitions that no police gang can withstand when it comes to firing power. He was saying what he knows about haven served in the Biafra army and knows what sophistication means when it comes to weaponry.
But what got me worried though is what he said the boys told him as to why they are into what they are doing. That they are not happy seeing how politicians display ill-gotten wealth to the consternation of the common man. Pete alone did not confirm this. Many others, including Chief Okeke, the tranport magnet, repeated so. Pete muted; Nigeria is in trouble.
For the umpteenth time, let the leadership in Nigeria know that it has failed the masses. Ill-gotten wealth is displayed to the annoyance of all, yet EFCC claims it is winning the war. I would rather say that EFCC is aiding the war with its selective approach to matters.
It is a fact that while kidnappers are criminals, those office holders are also criminals; there is no pretending this fact.
