Ogbulafor and penchant for electrification projects
Prince Vincent Ogbulafor is so lucky that having decamped from ANPP after being defeated in Abia governorship election rose to become the Chairman of the ruling (PDP) party. Upon the exalted office of PDP national Chairman, he still remains one of the central figures in the disorderliness existing in his home (Abia State) PDP.
But this is not what this (my) letter to the Editor is meant to address. One wonders when the Chairman of PDP would concentrate running the party as it is supposed to be. His penchant for electrification contracts with some PDP-controlled State governments would not allow him hence most PDP State chapters are in disarray. Some of the contracts include the mouth-watering power projects with Akwa Ibom and Rivers governments. These are more lucrative than sitting down to bother about what the ‘biggest’ party in Africa should look like.
I am not telling the PDP what to do, but I am a concerned Nigerian that is against corruption. Obtaining those contracts amount to corrupt practice; nothing stops him from lining behind those governors that patronized him when it is time for second term bids. Unless PDP wears another dress, its corrupt posture would allow anything.
