Yar’ Adua to Aondoakka: “You Will Go To jail”

Mr. Aondoakaa |
Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mr. Aondoakaa’s relationship with his boss, President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua, is reportedly further hitting the bottom of the rocks. Specifically, President Yar’Adua is said to have accused Mr. Aondoakaa of “scandalizing his government.”
Pointblanknews.com learnt that Mr. Aondoakaa was allegedly invited for a “talk” by President Yar’ Adua and was purportedly confronted with the allegations of his blocking the process of investigation and prosecution of some governors and high officials accused of stealing and looting public funds.
But the Attorney General was alleged to have accused the President’s Media Adviser, Mr. Segun Adeniyi, and Economic Adviser, Mr. Yakubu Tanimu of feeding the President with “false information” against him. Aondoakaa particularly accused Adeniyi of using his relationship with the media to cause “false stories” to be published against him.
The panicky Attorney-General who is said to have either been penciled down for removal or redeployment to another Ministry had said the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) had cleared the former Delta State governor, Chief James Ibori, former Lagos State Governor Bola Tinubu and his former Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Obong Victor Attah over the sale of the state's shares to Vmobile around 2007.
But Chairman of the EFCC, Mrs. Farida Waziri insisted that three Governors were never at anytime cleared from the Vmobile scandal.
The conflicting comments from the two Government officials was said to have irked President Yar’ Adua somehow and decided to summon Aondoakaa and told him that he was tired of the ceaseless criticisms of his administration over the do-nothing posture about corruption and fraud.
A source who knew about the encounter said that Yar’ Adua told the Minister that there must be full investigation and if Aondoakaa is proven to be involved in the collection of bribery or to pervert or block justice that he (the president) would not hesitate to remove him, prosecute him and see him go to jail. “You will be prosecuted and if found guilty, you will go to jail”. President Yar’ Adua reportedly told Aondoakaa. Although the President is not known to have put any corrupt politician behind bars.
The Minister was said to have headed straight to his office and was heard blaming his misfortune on the Media Adviser to the President, Mr. Olusegun Adeniyi, alleging that the latter was the one who had misrepresented his intentions to Yar’ Adua.
Pointblanknews.com however, learnt that Adeniyi was not in any way involved, but that Yar’ Adua finally had an epiphany that the present attacks on his administration were on account of Aondoakka’s gross misconducts.
