Sir,
Farida Waziri again and David Mark
I would not know why Benue people are seemingly looking as those that allow altercation among themselves in high positions of governance. In the recent past it was Aondoakaa versus Waziri in a situation which none of them was clearly right. Now it is Senate President David Mark versus EFCC Farida Waziri.
Waziri had mentioned that those seeking government offices must undertake psychiatric test because of the level of looting which those in government are involved. She could not understand how most of them amass wealth by looting treasuries kept in their care, to the chagrin of their people.
Senate President, to me, had no locus to ask EFCC Chairman to shut up; I believe David Mark is only trying to preempt and prevent Farida from doing her work diligently in a case that roundly involved him.
In the NEXT-on-Sunday newspaper edition of September 20, 2009, a story that started from the front page had brought detailed report of the highest debtor in the non-performing and unsecured bank facilities. Mr. Peter Ololo who is one of those being tried in court in cases brought by EFCC is said to be owing put together a whopping eighty eight billion Naira (N88billion) in various banks – Union, Oceanic, Afribank, FinBank, Intercontinental, UBA, Zenith, Ecobank, GTB, Bank PHB, Standard Chartered, Stanbic, First Bank, and FCMB, through his Company, Falcon Securities Limited. Falcon Securities, it was further revealed in the Next-on-Sunday newspaper story, is owned by a group of persons, namely, Mr. Ololo, Senators David Mark, Solomon Otegbola and Tunde Ogbeha. As the case unfolds, no one would fault Farida Waziri for suggesting that that people seeking government offices should undergo psychiatric tests.
