Former Gov. Attah, Gov. Akpabio reconciled

The perceived feud between the former Governor, Obong Victor Attah and his successor, Chief Godswill Akpabio with the State Executive of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was yesterday defused as both parties embraced peace for the interest of the party and the state.

Senator Ike Nwachukwu, the Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Elders Committee who led the delegation of the committee to broker peace in the party announced this at Ibom Hall, Uyo when he addressed the party faithful.

Senator Nwachukwu said the committee was able to bring together the party in Akwa Ibom State because those who believed they were wronged have been apologised to and they have accepted the apology.

The Chairman who commended the parties involved for shifting grounds have also agreed that the PDP must  wax stronger, fare better, care for the people and produce the next governor for the state in 2011.

He enjoined the party executive and the PDP faithful to show more determination in making the party stronger than before and thanked them for maintaining their loyalty..

The State Governor,  Chief  Godswill Akpabio had earlier at the residence of the former Governor, Obong Victor Attah where the reconciliatory meeting was held regretted what ever wrong must have been meted on Obong Attah.

Chief Akpabio thanked Obong Attah for welcoming the reconciliation team to the state and for embracing peace, noting that the state Executive of the party, Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, the State Executive Council and the entire PDP were in support of the peace initiative of the PDP Elders Committee.

Former Governor Attah who received Governor Akpabio and the State Executive the party said he was happy to welcome the PDP Elders Committee to his residence.

Having listened to the plea by both parties, Obong Attah embraced Chief Akpabio, thereby re-strengthening the love for the government and the party.

The State PDP Chairman, Prince Uwem Ita Etuk appreciated the PDP Elders Committee for brokering peace, and assured that in the spirit of re-branding the party would wax stronger than ever.
