Dear Editor,

In support of Sanusi and Akintola (SAN)

Mr. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the governor of Central Bank of Nigeria recently made a strong statement which no one through the media has come against. Sanusi considering the depth of the mess and corruption in the Nigeria banking industry vis-à-vis the sacked Bank Chief Executives mentioned that they need to be summarily executed. I think this was a hard one but merited.

Chief Niyi Akintola, SAN, had on his own part why alluding that there was no subsidy to be removed in terms of the pending oil deregulation, stressing that what is wrong with Nigeria is with few cabal of not more than 5000 persons.  He proffered that Nigeria should execute these guilty ones; noting that after all 2000 innocent persons were so treated during the boko haram siege. While Akintola cited Ghana and the Asian Tigers as examples, Sanusi insinuated China.

Relating to similar but stupid call, I disagree with Honourable Ibn NaAllah of the Federal House of Representative who on the floor of the House during the raging issue of the militancy in the Niger Delta had extended his argument that 20,000,000 persons in Niger Delta should be eliminated to save the rest 120,000,000 Nigerians. Incidentally the militants who are not up to 30,000 persons are like justice and equity freedom fighter; and not criminals and why Ibn should even extend it to the totality of persons in the Niger Delta shows that he required some mental examination. During the boko haram episode one expected his voice that the sect members that are not more than 120,000 persons should be also wiped away from the earth. I argued with a friend who felt that Akintola and Sanusi should be called to order since by the Federal authorities; if it did not call Ibn Na’Allah to order for making such uncalled inflammatory statement, they definitely would not make any noise about the appropriateness being propagated by Sanusi and Akintola
