Timi Alaibe critically ill, flown to London

Special Adviser to President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and Former Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Corporation, NDDC, Mr. Timi Alaibe is critically ill and has been flown abroad for treatment.
Alaibe was said to have been suffering from appendicitis and had refused treatment. His conditions became critical and he eventually succumbed to doctor’s recommendations for a surgery.
Appendicitis is a condition characterized by inflammation of the appendix . It is a medical emergency . All cases require removal of the inflamed appendix, either by laparotomy or laparoscopy . Untreated, mortality is high, mainly because of peritonitis and shock .
Sources told Pointblanknews.com that after the surgery in a hospital in London, his condition did not abate and a complication had developed and two weeks ago, the former MD of NDDC was flown to England for further treatment.
Only recently, the former NDDC boss lost his wife, Alaere, in London.
The 45-year-old mother of five died at a London hospital where she was receiving treatment for cancer.
Alaibe is one those eyeing the Governorship seat of Bayelsa State in the next general election slated for 2011. |
