The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Rivers State has lashed out the suspended Publicity Secretary of the Action Congress (AC) in the state, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze for his uncomplimentary remarks on the persons of some Abuja-based prominent sons of the state, including Dr. Peter Odili, Sir Celestine Omehia and Dr. Abiye Sekibo.

Eze, it would be recalled had in a recent press statement, which he issued on behalf of the Forum of Organised Opposition Political Parties (FOOP), described Dr. Odili, Sir Omehia, Dr. Sekibo and others  as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP fugitives in Abuja.

Chairman of ADC in the state, Chief Tamuno Roberts, who spoke to newsmen in Port Harcourt, wondered why Eze, who is not the spokesman of FOOPP, would use the forum’s platform to abuse prominent indigenes of the state.

“Eze is not the Publicity Secretary of FOOPP, why should he use our name without our consent to call our brothers in Abuja fugitives. Odili, Omehia , Sekibo and other people in Abuja are our own brothers”, Chief Roberts said.

He warned the suspended Publicity Secretary of AC not to interfere in the issue betweem Governor Chibuike Amaechi and his cousin, Sir Omehia in an attempt to tear them apart.

“Amaechi and Omehia are first cousins; they are illustrious sons of Rivers State. We don’t want people like Eze to tear them apart. He should leave Rivers State alone”, the ADC Chairman stated.

Chief Tamuno, who announced the withdrawal of ADC from FOOPP, said the party joined the forum with the aim of ensuring that peace returns to the state and not for people to do things that continue to endanger peace in the state.

“Our motto in ADC is ‘Change in Nigeria’ and we believe that in Rivers State, we can achieve that change through politics without bitterness and not name calling. Remember, late Sam Ikoku and his wife, Grace belonged to different political parties, yet, they come back to the house and dine together”, he said.
