Sultan, Aliero, Iwu, Others For NUJ Lecture
The 2009 edition of the Press Week lecture of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja Council, will have in attendance the Sultan of Sokoto, His Eminence Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar III, Minister of the FCT, Senator Adamu Aliero, Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Maurice Iwu as well as the National Security Adviser, (NSA), Gen. Sarki Mukhtar.
The week-long event which kicks off this Friday with Jumat prayers at the National Mosque would see paper presentations by the NSA on FOI Bill: Between National Security and National Interest as well as 2011: The Challenges Ahead by the INEC chairman, and another on Imperatives of Deregulation Towards A Sustainable Economy by the Special Adviser to the President on Petroleum, Dr. Emmanuel Egbogah.
In a statement by the chairman of the committee, Mr. Isibor Osedebamen other activities lined up for the week include visits to orphanages in the FCT, novelty football match with Transcorp Hilton and a thanksgiving service at the Catholic Pro-Cathedral.
Highpoint of the programme is conferment of awards on deserving Nigerians like the President Court of Appeal Justice Umaru Abdullahi, Gov. Ibrahim Idris of Kogi state, Mr. Osita Chidoka Corps Marshall of the FRSC, Mr. Timi Aliabe, Presidential Adviser on Niger Delta.
Others billed to be honoured include Dr. John Akanya, DG of SON, Senators Ewah Henshaw and Grace Bent, Leadership Newspapers, Eric Osagie,Tunde Asaju and NigComSat amongst others. |
