Governors of the 36 states in Nigeria are meeting at the Kwara State liaison house Abuja to deliberate on the current situation with President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua who has been hospitalized at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Centre,  Saudi Arabia.

Details of the Governors meeting are still sketchy as it is still going on at the time of filling this report. But sources informed Pointblanknews.com that the meeting may not be unconnected with the mood of the nation over the health of President Yar’Adua.

The meeting chaired by Governor Bukola Saraki who is the chairman of the Governors Forum, sources said would end up with an endorsement of the Federal Executive Council, FEC, decision not to invoke provisions of section 144 of the 1999 Constitution.

Section 144 (1) of the Nigerian constitution states that the president ceases to hold office if by a resolution passed by two-third majority of all the members of the executive council of the federation, the president or the vice-president is declared to be incapable of discharging his functions and that declaration is verified by a medical panel of five doctors including his personal physician.
