The plot to assassinate the former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari and five others for daring to ask the sickly Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to vacate office has been slated for Sunday.

Others penciled down for elimination are Hon. Sadiq Yar’Adua, a former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bugaje, National Secretary, All Nigeria Peoples Party, ANPP, Mutari Lawal, Dr. Ishaq Kurfi and Bashir Idris Nadabo. They are all from Katsina state where the President is from and were part of the G53 who called on the President to resign over his failing health.

It could not be ascertained if the attackers are members of the Katsina People’s Congress (KPC), who recently visited the Emir of Katsina, Alhaji Abdulmimini Kabir Usman, to submit a protest letter against Masari’s involvement resignation call

But sources gave the names of one Muttaqa Rabe Darma, Zubairu Ali Gafai as the organizers and coordinators of the mayhem. Pointblanknews.com was reliably informed that the group is being sponsored by some top Nigerian politicians who are currently in London.

Darma is an engineer who was appointed by President Yar’adua as the executive secretary of Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) and is said to have made millions of naira available for the mission.

The plot is currently at an advanced stage and the group is said to be enjoying a lot of financial support, a source told pointblanknews.com.

Pointblanknews.com reliably gathered that some people in Katsina State have already been mobilized to carry out the attack that has been scheduled for Sunday.

Recently, some eminent Nigerians issued a statement calling on the ailing President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to throw in the towel and consequently hand over the governance of Nigeria to his deputy, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan.

The attack, according to a source is not only aimed at killing all the Katsina indigenes who signed the statement asking the sickly President to resigning but also aimed at destroying their properties anywhere in Nigeria.

The Peoples Democratic Party had criticized a former Speaker of the House of Representatives for joining the call for President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to resign over his health condition.

Advocates of Yar’Adua’s resignation maintained that since the President was unhealthy enough to discharge the functions of his office, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) should pass a resolution pursuant to Section 144 (1) of the Constitution to the effect that the President is incapable of discharging the functions of his office.

They argued that this perceived patriotic step by FEC would empower the Senate President to appoint a medical panel to examine the president with a view to confirming the capability or otherwise of the President to continue in office.

But some of those who criticized the resignation call in the president’s home state described the development as premature and borne out of ill-will adding that prayers for his quick recovery, rather than calls for his resignation, should be on the lips of all patriotic Nigerians adding that as human beings, people are prone to sickness during their lifetime.
