Name, Nail, Shame and Shun Corrupt Leaders Anywhere, Everywhere
7 th December, 2009
The Honourable Speaker,
Lagos State House of Assembly,
Alausa, Ikeja,
Ikeja, Lagos.
Dear Sir,
Petition on Lying on Oath, Forgery and Using as Genuine Fake Documents
The attention of the Coalition Against Corrupt Leaders (CACOL) was drawn to the front page story of the Nigerian Compass of Saturday, November 21, 2009 titled, “Super Scandal: Lagos Deputy Speaker in Certificate Scam”. We have since then been waiting for the rebuttal of the story either from the affected “members” of your House, the House itself or their agents with no avail. This loud silence, it was, that prompted our resolve to take an action on the matter otherwise we might be forced to live under laws made by possible outlaws who, ab initio, did not deserve such mandates. We are therefore inclined to bring to your attention for investigation and possible prosecution of one Risikat Ajoke Adeniyi Adegeye who is currently a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Amuwo Odofin I Constituency and one Bola Badmus-Olujobi who is currently a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly representing Amuwo Odofin II Constituency.
We have, as part of our crusade to rid our country of corruption and bad leadership, carried out discreet but thorough investigation to the case of lying under oath, forgery and using as genuine, fake results by the said Risikat Ajoke Adeniyi Adegeye and the said Bola Badmus-Olujobi in order to qualify for election into the House of Assembly, Lagos State.
The findings of our investigations are that:
- In the form CF001 deposed to on 18 December, 2006 and filed by the said Risikat Ajoke Adeniyi Adegeye with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for contesting the House of Assembly election, she claimed that the secondary school attended by her was St. Timothy College Onike Iwaya, Lagos and that she obtained West African School Certificate in June 1977.
- In the form CF001 deposed to on 18 December, 2006 and filed by the said Bola Badmus-Olujobi with the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for contesting the House of Assembly election, she claimed that she attended Amuwo Grammar School, Agboju, Lagos and that she obtained West African School Certificate in June 1988.
- We discovered that the claims of the two individuals herein are deliberate falsehoods and that the attached certificates purportedly issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) are forged as same did not emanate from WAEC.
We therefore, hereby humbly appeal your respected offices to immediately take up the investigation by contacting West African Examinations Council for necessary verification and where these allegations are found true, prevail on these individuals to vacate the respected seats of the Lagos State House of Assembly. They should also be made to refund all monies and other material benefits they have obtained under false pretences by deceiving electorates to vote and tolerate them as Legislators representing the constituencies they claim. This is in line with decent practice epitomized by all conscientious democrats whose aspirations are dictated by the altruistic consciousness of public service.
Thanks for your anticipated co-operation.
Yours faithfully,
Debo Adeniran
Executive Chairman

- His Excellency, The Executive Governor of Lagos State
- The Legislature, being an integral arm of the Lagos State government cannot be ignored with the alleged perjury and the attendant financial crimes of ‘obtaining under false pretences’. We therefore urge Your Excellency to direct necessary legal and administrative actions to be taken in line with the aspiration of your government to sanitise our extremely corrupt system.
- The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command
- It is our expectation that your offices would have taken practical constitutional steps in investigating and prosecuting these individuals in view of the evidence provided by the publication in reference. We nonetheless urge your high offices to take necessary steps to bring these individuals to book in order to serve as deterrent to others.
- The Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission
- We believe that the actions of the said Risikat Ajoke Adeniyi-Adegeye and Bola Badmus-Olujobi, if found to be true, constitute serious economic and financial crimes as they amount to using fraudulent means to derive financial and economic benefits in terms of salaries and emoluments received as a members of the House of Assembly, Lagos State. We therefore, by the copy of this letter, urge your esteemed Commission in taking necessary steps to bring these individuals to book in order to serve as deterrent to others.
