Re: Coach Amodu, Foreign Coach and World Cup.
Publication of My Article without Acknowledgment by One Godfrey Ali Gaiya.
Again for the umpteenth time, my attention has been drawn to the re-publication of my article titled “Coach Amodu And World Cup” by one Godfrey Ali Gaiya who presumably is a Member of the House of Representatives and in fact is a member of the sport committee of the Federal House of Representatives. The said article was published in the Leadership Newspaper of Saturday 12th December 2009.
I want to make it abundantly clear that I am the original author of the above article as was published by the same Leadership Newspaper of Thursday 26th November 2009.
The same article was published by on line news media like Huhuonline.com, Pointblanknews.com, Modern Ghana.com and amongst others.
I am aware of the fact my articles have been re-published in the past by some Nigerian daily newspapers without acknowledging me as the author. Daily Independent for example re-published my article titled “Nigeria is a Dysfunctional and a Failed State” without acknowledgment.
While I fill fulfilled that my work is re-published, it is the cardinal principle of good practice that authors are acknowledged whenever their work is copied and used to avoid litigation based on plagiarism.
By this write-up, I expect Honorable Godfrey Ali Gaiya to write an apology to me and acknowledge the fact that I Ndiameeh Babrik is the original author of the work he published under his name in the Leader Newspapers of Saturday 12th December 2009.
This is necessary to encourage originality and hard work.
All in all, I have published three articles on the Coach Amodu saga. They can all be accessed on line.
Godfrey Ali Gaiya by my re-published article is supposed to be a law maker and not a law breaker. Therefore I expect him to acknowledge that he is using somebody's idea.
That is the essence of being honorable.
Note that sometimes some of us stay awake all night to craft these articles so that the editor will be pleased with it and find it worthy of publication.
Ndiameeh Babrik,
