Blackburn striker Benni McCarthy has been selected in South Africa's 19-man squad for the African Cup of Nations qualifier against Chad.
However, McCarthy has not yet made himself available for internationals again after opting to concentrate on his club career.
McCarthy has not featured for his country as a Blackburn player, with his last outing for South Africa coming 16 months ago.
Coach Carlos Alberto Pereira has called up the former Porto front man despite doubts over whether he will be willing to participate.
Karlsruhe stopper Bradley Carnell returns for the Group 11 leaders for the game against winless Chad in Durban on 2nd June.
But Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Siyabonga Nkosi and Borussia Dortmund's Steven Pienaar both miss out through injury.
