Two medical doctors and three Nurses and other auxiliary medical staff attached to the ailing Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua at the King Faisal Medical And Research Hospital, Jeddah Saudi Arabia have all been placed on indefinite suspension, highly placed Saudi sources revealed to pointblanknews.com.
President Yar’Adua is suffering from “acute pericarditis,” a deadly ailment which results from Churg–Strauss syndrome and other related ailments. Pericarditis is inflammation of the pericardium, often with fluid accumulation. Pericarditis may be caused by many disorders such as infection, MI, trauma, tumors, and metabolic disorders.
The Chief Security officer, CSO, Yusuf Tilde and the Aide Camp have also been placed on a restricted access to President Yar’Adua.
The suspended medical personnel are all Nigerians while Saudis and other foreign medical personnel have all been issued warning over the leakages of information about the medical conditions of the incapacitated Nigerian President who has spent more than one month at the Saudi medical facility.
However, as at the time of filling this report it could not be ascertained if the suspended medics have all returned to Nigeria.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that first Lady, Hajia Turai Yar’Adua have been very worried at the spate and speed of information leakage about the condition of the President to the Press especially the online media and have specifically requested the suspension of the Nigerian medical team.
According to a source “they believe that the Nigerian medical team and others may have been responsible for the information about your President’s health to the press and they could not tolerate that any longer I guess.”
The source hinted that in the last one week the CSO and the aide-de-camp have not had access to the President and are unaware of the current state of health of the Nigerian President.
“None of these people have any more access to the President’s sick bed and even some of our medical team no longer enjoys the privilege of going there except for a select few with clearance.” The only person who sees the President now is his wife, Mrs. Yar’Adua,” the source said.
Another source told pointblanknews.com that the reason behind the new restriction order is in line with the Yar’Adua’s family resolve to completely keep Nigerians out from knowing the true situation with the health of President Yar’Adua.
According to the source, Vice-President Goodluck Jonathan has not been adequately briefed of the true position and condition of health of President Yar’Adua.
The source told Pointblanknews.com that soon after regaining consciousness few hours after arriving Saudi Arabia, the president was said to have through his wife instructed Principal Secretary to the President, Mr. David Edevbie to forward some files to Vice-President Jonathan.
Upon receipt of the files, the Vice-President was said to have sorted out the files based on the ones he has powers to treat and kept those ones he was not formally empowered to handle.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that files that has to do with Heads of agencies and parastatals were treated by the Vice-President Jonathan while those that has to do with budgets, security and other related matters were left behind. |
