Mimiko condole with Babangida over Maryam’s death
The Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has commiserated with the former Military President of Nigeria, Gen Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, over the demise of his wife and former First Lady of the nation, Mrs. Maryam Babangida.
In a release issued on his behalf by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Kolawole Olabisi, Governor Mimiko described the passage of the flamboyant former First Lady as shocking, painful and a sad loss.
“On behalf of myself, my family and the people of Ondo State, I want to commiserate with Gen Babangida and his family over this sad loss. Mrs. Babangida was the pillar behind her husband throughout his regime and brought flamboyancy to the Office of the First Lady. Late Maryam Babagida, as the First Lady, would be remembered for her numerous programmes, especially the Better Life Programme through which she reached and touched not only the rural women but a vast majority of Nigerians. She will be sorely missed.
“We pray that Almighty Allah give Gen. Babangida, the family and the good people of Asaba in Delta State where she hailed from the fortitude to bear the sad and unfortunate loss. May Allah also give grant her Al-janah in the hereafter,” Mimiko prayed. |
