Ondo State Governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko on Sunday called for selfless sacrifice from all Nigerians in order to make the nation great just as he lauded the nation’s fallen soldiers saying that their selfless sacrifice was worthy of emulation.

Mimiko, who spoke at a church programme to mark this year’s Armed Forces Remembrance held at the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Isinkan in Akure attended by retired armed forces personnel and men of the 323 Air Artillery Battalion, Akure Barracks noted that the armed forces was a noble profession which exemplified all the nation needed to develop.

According to him, qualities such as courage, selflessness and perseverance, synonymous with the armed forces profession, were qualities needed by every Nigerians in if we desire to lift the nation to the next level of development.

Dr. Mimiko while reacting to the sermon earlier given by the Vicar of the Church, Venerable Matthew Adenuga, warned those bent on truncating his government to desist saying that God was ready to vent His wrath on them saying the “Goliaths and principalities bent on pulling Ondo State back would be destroyed by God who put us here despite the evil schemes of these Goliaths and principalities.”

According to the Governor, every decision that would be made by his government would be taken in the interest of the greatest number of the people of the State and called on the people of the State to be ready to make sacrifices.

He also used the occasion to unfold some of the plans being put in place by his administration in the next few weeks.

His words: “In the next few weeks, we are going to start the beautification and dualisation of the Oba Adesida Road in Akure to make it a city worthy of being called a State capital and make it attractive for investors. And as a government, we have provided alternatives for our traders who have turned that road which is the major road in Akure to markets by building two neighbourhood markets simultaneously which would be ready in the next two weeks.

“So our traders must be ready to move to these markets as we must make our capital city attractive to investors as no investors will come to a city that is ugly, unattractive and congested. Ondo State is on course and God helping us, we shall make it a better place than we met it."
