Ekiti State Government has again called on the Police to expedite actions on its investigation on the recent incident of kidnapping that led to the death of a prominent traditional ruler in the state as well as the acting Provost of the state College of Education among others.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti during the weekend, the state Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Hon Taiwo Olatunbosun noted that the arrest of one of the kidnappers was an opportunity for the security agencies to unveil all perpetrators of the covert and evil plot aimed at making the state ungovernable, adding that; “Those that are going to the press to accuse the State government of plot to frame them up are only doing so out of guilt.”
The Information Commissioner, who stressed the need for a thorough investigation by the police and other security agencies, said that exposing those behind the dastardly act would curb the persistent attempt by some people to make life uncomfortable for people in the state.
Olatunbosun recalled that he had, on several instances, raised alarm on the clandestine activities of some group of individuals that were capable of degenerating to a full breakdown of law and order if not addressed in good time.
The Government Spokesman said he wondered how a man that surrounds himself with thugs goes around waylaying and forcefully placing stickers on all vehicles that cross his path unhindered, stressing that it was imperative that security agencies, as part of their statutory responsibilities, curtail the blatant disregard to law and order as well as protect the rights of the people in the state.
He emphasized that apart from the arrested suspects, the Police should also beam its searchlights on anybody that had at one time or other involved in attempts to create confusion in the state for selfish political reasons, adding that; “those who paid old women to walk the streets of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital naked should also be screened because it is reasonable to infer that anybody that could descend to the level of inducing innocent old women to such a taboo is capable of committing the lowest form of atrocity.”
The Commissioner however assured that the Oni-led administration would not relent in its effort at ensuring law and order in the state while the safety of live and properties of the people would continually remain a priority in the scheme of government.
While noting that the antics of those he said were trying to bring the state into disrepute were undemocratic and satanic, Olatunbosun assured that Governor Segun Oni, whom he described as a peace-loving man and a firm believer of the rule of law, would leave no stone unturned at ensuring that all enemies of the state were brought to book as he takes the state to greater heights.
