There are strong indications that after over 70 days in a Jeddah hospital, sick President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua is set to” return” to Nigeria. The decoy aircraft ferrying him will touch down in Kano at approximately 3am Wednesday morning. From Kano, the terminally ill President will be spirited into Abuja where efforts are already in top gear to ensure the intensive care unit of the N10billion Presidential Villa clinic is in top form to wire him up.

This sudden departure took the six ministers who left for Saudi Arabia Monday night unawares. Pointblanknews.com sources disclosed that after spending one hour with the Saudi King, the lame duck delegation headed for the hospital, only to be told Yar’Adua had been discharged.

Pointblanknews.com learnt Wednesday evening from very privileged sources that the Presidential aircraft and an air ambulance would land in Abuja to throw off the public, most especially the local and international media.

The sudden return, political pundits told pointblanknews.com last night, would not alter the equation as the status quo would definitely remain. According to pundits, if Yar’Adua is put on life support in Abuja, the Acting President would still call the shots, and the invocation of section 144 may be a matter of days.

Pointblanknews.com gathered that the visit of US Ex President George Bush, Ex National Security Adviser, Condoleezza Rice, and Ex British Prime Minister, Tony Blair speeded up the end of the drama that has attracted foreign concern and produced an Acting President.

According to our source, during a media event in Nigeria, Bush was asked to outline the consequences of the absence of Yar’Adua for over 80 days. This question prompted the ex president to contact Washington D.C. Sources disclosed that Bush then outlined the political consequences of Yar’Adua’s action in a telephone conversation with President Barak Obama, who in turn briefed Secretary Of State, Hillary Clinton.

As most Nigerians continue to speculate about the role of the Saudi Government, Washington, it was gathered, put a call through to the Saudi authorities concerning their role in the over 70 day’s old drama. After brainstorming on the consequences of Yar’Adua’s continued stay, the US, through Clinton mildly pushed for the immediate discharge of the sick president. During the conversation between both governments, sources said, the Saudi government maintained that they had no hand his continued stay and the string of denial of access to his hospital ward. The Saudi monarch then directed that the Nigeria President be discharged even if he has to be on life support in Abuja. Our sources hinted that the monarch took the very difficult stance when he was faced with the attendant political and diplomatic consequences that may sprout.

The decision to discharge the sick president despite his very bad state, sources disclosed, was not opposed by his wife Turai, who in concert with the ADC, and CSO had prevented Nigerians from having access to her husband.

The kitchen cabinet led by Turai, had no choice considering the intervention of the US. However, the status quo was definitely in Turai’s flank favor. They had wanted to keep his state of health a mystery, so as to avoid a possible impeachment or invocation of section 144 based on health grounds.
