Two airplanes, one believed to be an air ambulance and the other a Presidential Jet landed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport Abuja without any sign that President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was on any of the aircraft.

The first airplane landed at about 1:42am Nigeria time while the second one followed few minutes after. As soon as the first plane landed, the pilot switched off all it lights. An ambulance immediately drove straight to the airport tarmac and also switched off it lights. No one could see if President Yar'Adua came out of the airplane or not. The ambulance and convoy of cars left the airport at about 2:38am Nigeria time.

The action was aimed at frustrating journalists who besieged the airport with the hopes of taking pictures and capturing the atmosphere as the President returns after over 90 days in a Saudi Arabia hospital.

Soldiers virtually took over the airports and its surroundings.
