Sir,

I am highly disappointed in Governor Ohakim

With the utterance of Governor Ikedi Ohakim as reported in ThisDay newspaper page 7 of Friday March 12, 2010, I became disappointed in and tend to feel that he could be one of those wrong persons in places.

Governor Ohakim, while adducing the reasons why the State governors insisted that Yar’Adua should not be removed in office was quoted to have said that “the governors are in possession of certain vital information, which ordinary Nigerians who are calling for the head of Yar’Adua lack”. If one may ask: What is that vital information that people who selected or elected those governors into office should not be privy to?

The governor further was quoted to have said that “Nigerians should not be slave to the Constitution because the solution to Nigeria’s present political challenges does not lie solely on the Constitution” and adding that Nigerian Constitution can only provide a mere 10 per cent solution to our political problems.

These dispositions of his displayed ignorance in those leading our nation today. One then ask to know what the governors swore to uphold and respect: Was it the Nigerian Constitution or their own feelings?  Even in Heaven, there are laws and orders and those laws are meant to be respected. Every country is guided by laws and the compendium of the laws is in the respective Constitutions. Any alteration in the Constitution must be done constitutionally; anything short of this becomes unconstitutional. The governors should shut up and stop being selfish but consider the masses first; otherwise they should be considered constantly as a corrupt bunch.
