An Open Letter to General Aliyu Gusau (rtd), National Security Adviser

As an unemployed youth with intelligence adequacy on national security matters, your return as National Security Adviser (NSA) at this delicate period of political power play and shadow war is a welcome development. And your patriotic service without tribalism is seriously needed to the Acting President Goodluck in doing his job more than he expect.

I hereby urge you to prevent this political power play and shadow war orchestrated as a result of hospitalisation of President Yar’Adua from getting in the way of national security and western world from taking advantage over it.

While analysing the dangers that are recognised and taking a longer view of what dangers are likely to arise from this problem on national security, it is already heightening tension, causing divided of power and authority in the management of State affairs on security matters as it reflects on Jos crisis, the new found peace and amnesty programme in Niger Delta region which is now suffering set back.

Gradually creating a lot of potential dangerous traps on divisions between tribes and threatening to 2011 general elections. And also increasing the chance of Britain and America on extension of power beyond their shore to fully exploit the problem in terms of our political leadership succession and win more support for their personal interest especially on foreign economic and energy policy.

Moreover many observers including Catherine Ashton, the High Representative and Security Policy and Vice President(VP) of the European Union Commission (EU) in their statements acknowledge that uncertainty in the Nigeria political process continue to pose many difficult challenges to the nation on security and developmental issues.

In this entry, I speculate that we need to act decisively on this problem before it further trigger lost of inability to maintain social order and widespread unrest. However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) national leaders, lawmakers, eminence grise politicians, Yar’Adua cabal and pro Goodluck groups needs to be extremely caution  on their statements and action towards this problem, to avoid it from skewing the public mood(youths in particular) in dangerous direction towards 2011 general elections.

Sir, please consider what l have put before you.

God bless Federal Republic of Nigeria.
