A non-governmental organization (NGO), Vanguard for Good Governance has commended Acting President Goodluck Jonathan for nominating Mohammed Bello Adoke, SAN, for the position of minister of the Federal Republic.
In a statement issued yesterday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, the group described Adoke’s nomination as a “giant step in the right direction,” saying it also underscored Jonathan’s commitment to ensuring that only the best hands are brought on board. The statement was signed by its coordinator, Thompson Warmate.
“Adoke, who started off as a school teacher, has distinguished himself as a lawyer, an international arbitrator and administrator. We have little doubt that the experience he and the other nominees garnered in Nigeria and other parts of the world would be brought to bear on helping to move Nigeria forward,” the group said.
It commended Jonathan for the “courage to tackle the nation’s myriad problems headlong,” and urged him to “be emboldened by the overwhelming support from millions of Nigerians who truly wish this country well.”
