Why all the attacks? Let EFCC be

What is this world turning into? Nigeria used to be one of the most peaceful nations within and outside Africa ?

How time changes, I use to remember a time when Nigeria didn’t belong to anyone, a Yoruba, Hausa, Igbo, Tiv etc could move freely around without being harassed or killed. Nowadays a mother is scared to take her child to the school for fear of being kidnapped, an officer can’t discharge his duties properly because he is either corrupted or fear being killed.

The anti-graft agencies especially Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, amongst other are trying its best to curb corruption in this nation. An attack  has being launched on the commission especially its chairman by those in high places at this crucial time (2011 election), by whose looking to get into power is simply menace.

Recently, barely twenty four hours after an announcement by the commission raising an alarm on alleged conspiracy by some corrupt politicians to engage it in a sustained war of attrition, some EFCC officials were ambushed and attacked around Isiala Mbano, a local government of Omi state. They were said to be on their way from an ongoing trial at Federal High Court in Owerri over a N40 million fraud involving Mr. Albert Chikwe, husband of Nigeria ’s Ambassador to Ireland .

Mr. Eze Edoga, an officer assigned to the Commission was brutally killed and four others injured via gunshots including the lawyer prosecuting the case. For what purpose? People are so selfish and can go to any length in order to acquire wealth unlawfully especially some in power or those who have tasted it.

The Commission had earlier said it had uncovered plots by some politicians being investigated or prosecuted for alleged corruption to destabilize the Commission, with a massive war-chest of N250 million reportedly voted for the agenda.

Let’s join hands and fight, to make Nigeria better and a safe place once again
