Dear Sir,

Nigeria (Soon) Congregation of Indicted Political Leaders

advertisement

Reading the front page of The Guardian of Wednesday March 24, 2010 was a story that says that the Senate has approved that indicted persons can now contest any position in Nigeria politics. What a way to encourage all manners of persons to come on board. It is unfortunate that we may have had at present many persons in elected positions who are ex-convicts; especially in the National and State Houses hence such indecency is now legalized.

The suggestion to this type of amendment empowers me to be a kidnapper or sponsor of kidnappings, go free for all 419 acquisition of wealth, loot the treasury, be a cultist, murder any perceived opponent, push and use drugs, etc and still aspire to lead Nigerians in any capacity and with my ‘right’ conscience; after all it is now legalized. What a shame of a Senate to have even thought, talk less now passing such amendment. I think I am home and dry and feel encouraged to commit crimes because it will pay me now; I do not need to think of eternal life. Let me enjoy life, courtesy of the National Assembly.

Can our leaders, especially those in the houses (state and federal) for once stop painting us black in the comity of progressive nations of the world? No matter how embellished the clause on this is, Nigerians must not agree to this devilish grant by the Senate; it must not be allowed to stand else one day what we would have as leaders would be criminals. We shall soon have compendium of (and) increased number of crooks in our various governments.
