Mimiko assures on OSUSTECH as scores of PDP mempers decamped to
LP in Ondo
Against the rumour that the present administration in Ondo State has abandoned various projects initiated by the last administration, especially in the southern senatorial district, the state governor, Dr Olusegun Mimiko has reassured the people that no project in any part of the state would be abandoned.
The Governor who stated this at Okitipupa while receiving over two thousand decampees from PDP, AC, ANPP and other political parties into Labour Party, noted that all the on-going projects were meant for the people he promised to serve at his inauguration.
Dr Mimiko said “all these projects they are saying we have abandoned are for the people of our state. These are the people who voted massively for us. They deserve the best from us. It is not the project of any government, but it is the project of Ondo State”.
The State Chief Executive, who assured that Ondo State University of Science and Technology (OSUSTECH), Okitipupa would be completed, stressed the need for proper planning of the institution in order to achieve the desired result.
He added that efforts were being made to bring gas pipeline to burn the furnace of Oluwa Glass Company at Igbokoda in a bid to resuscitate the company for the service and use of the people.
Governor Mimiko told the people to be patient with his administration in its determination to transform the state, saying that he would not allow anyone to stampede or armtwist him to take any decision against the interest of the people.
During his visit to the University site along Igbokoda road, Dr Mimiko assured the traditional rulers in the area that academic activities would soon begin at the University, adding that “it is the right of our children to have university education and this we shall achieve by the grace of God”.
He said “I am a politician, and I can play politics, but I will never play politics with things like this.
While congratulating the decampees for taking the right decision, the governor assured them of equal opportunities saying that they would not be discriminated against in the affairs of the party.
“I want to assure you that both the old and new members will be treated equally in everything including the award of contract” said the governor.
Receiving the decampees, the National Chairman of Labour Party, Barrister Dan Nwanyanwu urged them to work tirelessly for the victory of the party in the forth coming elections.
Some of the leaders of the decampees include a former Chairman of Okitipupa local government, Hon. Ajinde Jonathan, an aide to late Governor Adekunle Ajasin, Chief Segun Olumuyiwa, ,Special Assistant to ex-Governor Adefarati on Women Mobilisation, Erelu Olajide, the Chairman of Nigerian Legion in Okitipupa, Capt. Ayeku, Mr. Tunde Kalejaye, Chief Ayo Okunnuga, Apostle Wole Omogoroye, Chief Umukoro (Urobo Leader in Okitipupa), Chief Dumiju and Chief Oyinbo.
They chorused at the forum that the leadership qualities of Dr Olusegun Mimiko attracted them into Labour Party.
