Anenih Retains PDP BOT Chairmanship As Fight With OBJ Deepens

Former Works and Housing Minister, Chief Tony Anenih has retained his chairmanship of the Board of Trustees, BOT of the peoples Democratic Party, PDP as speculations are rife that he has completely falling apart with former President Olusegun Obasanjo who was conspicuously absent at the party’s National Executive Council, NEC meeting yesterday.

Obasanjo’s absence at the all-important PDP meeting is said to be a demonstration of his anger over the role some members of the party have been playing since he left office in May 29, 2007

The former President Obasanjo was supposed to replace Chief Anenih as the chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the ruling PDP according to the party’s ratified constitution.

The vengeance Ex-President Obasanjo is said to be swiftly turning against his one time hatchet man, Chief Anenih. Their present fight is said to be as a result of Anenih’s choice to step out of lying and throw his well known maverick touch to back former Benue State Governor, Chief George Akume for the Senate Presidency. His god father, Chief Obasanjo had preferred retired General David Mark for the plum job.

The well known Mr. Fix It (Anenih) also ran himself into trouble when he reportedly made overtures to embattled immediate past Vice-President, Atiku Abubakar for a resuscitation of the famous People’s Democratic Movements, PDM, the octopus socio political movement that was pivotal to the victory of Obasanjo/Atiku in 1999. PDM was originally assembled by the late Shehu Musa Yar’Adua, the elder brother of the current President of Nigeria.

Obasanjo was said to have dismantled the structure after he grew so monstrous at the peak of his political battles against his own handpicked Vice-President Atiku. The Ex-President was said to have felt that it was an act of ultimate betrayal for Anenih, a man he had always placed under close watch even while using him as his henchman for neutralizing and muscling every real and imaginary opposition.

The intentions of Anenih in offering the olive branch to Atiku is not immediately clear but Obasanjo does not brood tolerably the straying of any sheep in his political fold. Anenih did not only go astray, he also crossed the line. Obasanjo now back at the helm as the chairman of the Board of trustees of the people’s Democratic Party, PDP now must go beyond tender application of the rod.

Pointblanknews.com was told that the god father is simply at war with a once loyal godson. The ex-President according to close sources was said to have told one of his associate that the time has come to put Anenih in his rightful place that he must be shown his personal limits.

According to the source, Obasanjo had always suspected Anenih of possible betrayal and that Anenih was carrying on with a megalomaniac attitude but that now he has be cut to sizes and he has outlived his value.

The battle promises to be a clash of two elephants. Supporters of the two clashing titans are already pitching camps. David Mark has emerged as the President of the Senate, Patricia Etteh as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Senator Ike Ekweremadu as the Deputy Senate President, Ibrahim Ngoroje as the Deputy Speaker would be named as members of the NEC and by extension, Obasanjo’s lackeys. They all love to see Anenih suffer alongside his lieutenants of ex-governors.

While it is said Anenih may pull some punches, observers love to believe that the jabs would be feeble and ineffective because with his ex-governor wayfarers they have sad garbage of deficit in integrity to contend with.
