Rejoinder: ADEBOYE, REDEEM CHURCH LEADER IN N20 BILLION IMPORT WAIVER SCANDAL
The above captioned story on the import waiver given to the Redeemed
Christian Church of
God(Rccg) in your internet site –pointblanknews.com, is mischievious,
full of lies, half truths and betrays the ignorance of the writer
about the person, ministry and anointing of Pastor Enoch Adejare
Adeboye .It certainly does not describe the Pastor Adeboye that I
know.
I do not doubt the fact that the church got a waiver to import
construction materials, fittings and equipment for the absolutely
phenomenal and unprecedented work God is using Pastor Adeboye to do at
the redemption camp and all over the world for which we should give
the glory to God. It may be possible (even though I doubt it) that
after the waiver was obtained, the people charged with implementation
abused terms of the grant. If this happened, the Pastor Adeboye I know
will expose and punish such acts that bring shame and reproach to the
name of God.
The screaming Headlines of the story have no basis in the report which
did not show in any way that Pastor Adeboye personally benefited from
the so called scam. At any rate you should know that there is nothing
wrong, unlawful or morally improper with the Government granting a
waiver to rccg being a non profit organisation. it is for the same
reason that churches don't pay tax.
Rccg is the fastest growing church in the world (evangelical and
others) and has indeed represented Nigeria well globally. The
Redemption city for which the waiver may have been granted, is the
only city in Nigeria where among other reliable services, you have
constant power and water supply in Nigeria. Redemption camp is a
living testimonial that with proper leadership, the masses can enjoy
functional and dependable public services and infrastructure.
The rapid expansion of rccg all over the world is securing for the
church a well deserved diplomatic and global icon status. We should
celebrate our icons of global excellence and not seek to destroy them
to promote our sectional hatreds, prejudices and caprices. It is even
worse when we deliberately manipulate facts to promote our parochial
material interests or to secure pecuniary benefits.
I will end this rejoinder with a caveat from the holy
scriptures:…."and when they went from nation to nation , and from one
kingdom to another people; He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea,
he reproved kings for their sakes, saying, Touch not mine anointed,
and do my prophets no harm". 1 Chronicles 16: 20- 22. I trust you will
do the needful.
