Ogwuma, Former CBN Governor Can't Return $10 Million, Battles Eye Ailment

OGWUMA, FORMER CBN GOVERNOR CAN’T RETURN $10 MILLION, BATTLES EYE AILMENT

Former Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Mr. Paul Oguma may have finally decided to never return to Nigeria following a spirited attempt being made by the Government of Nigeria to make him account for about $10 Million which he was said to have received from former National Security Adviser, NSA to late General Sanni Abacha, Ismaila Gwarzo.

Sources told pointblanknews.com that Ogwuma who was in charge of the apex bank during general Abacha reign allegedly played a central role in the fraudulent ferrying of the nation’s resources abroad. Specifically, he was said to be one of the troika who knew of Abacha’s plan to import money minting machines from Vienna, Austria. Several millions of Dollars were earmarked for the top secret project which did not materialize because of General Abacha’s sudden death.

The machines were later recovered and seized from the Abuja home of the former NSA.

Gwarzo and former Finance Minister, Mr. Tony Ani are said to be the two other powerful Nigerians who knew of the plan. Gwarzo, in particular was the henchman who purportedly coordinated the entire project for the late dictator.

The former NSA ensured that the printing equipments actually got to Nigeria and were kept in his house in Abuja. And then Abacha died. The project was truncated. But he still had with him the capital set aside for the operation which was said to be about $50 Million.

Highly placed sources told Pointblanknews.com that Gwarzo decided to share the money between himself, Ani and Ogwuma. Anis who was promptly arrested and cross-examined by security operatives after the death of Abacha decided to spill and allegedly returned $7 Million out of the loot. He still has an outstanding amount of $3 Million to pay. Ogwuma who was said to have been battling a serious eye ailment took off and relocated to United Kingdom where he now lives.

Almost completely blind now, Ogwuma is said to have told investigators that he is broke and can no longer come up with his share of the loot. More so, he was said to have spent the money taking care of his hospital visit and usually expensive medications.

However, Gwarzo who is currently suffering from Alzheimer was said to have returned his own part of the money but was much comfortable with other Abacha loots said to be kept in his custody that has not been traced.
