GOOD-BYE-DEMOCRACY
Conference of Nigeria Political Paries {CNPP} notes with all sense of responsibilty that the validation of the 2007 Presidential Sham Election by the Supreme Court of Nigeria; is a traversity of Justice, reversal of the gains of democracy and indeed GOOD-BYE -DEMOCRACY.
Supreme Court regrettably had placed personal and emphemeral interest above germane national interest by validating a sham election, for the world cannot be wrong and Peoples Democracy Party {PDP}, INEC and the Supreme Court are right: as both local and international observers had rated the 2007 Election as a sham election tainted with gross fraud, substantial non-compliance with the extant laws and the Electoral Act 2006.
CNPP consider it unfortunate that an election that woefully fell below the ranking of Zimbabwean and Kenyan elections is validated by the highest court in Nigeria; thus dangerously and couriously mandating Nigerians in future elections to resort to self help, as the Court had abandoned the aggrieved.
CNPP remembers with sense of grieve the mass massacre and destruction of properties that followed the manipulation of Plateau State local government election and other rigged elections in the name of consolidation of one party state; and wonder why the Supreme Court is entering into this unholy alliance.
The Supreme Court by signing into this unholy alliance with Do-or-Die political culture advocates, had sent wrong signals that Ghana and other sane societies in Africa are the true giants of Africa, as the excellence of the justice system has remained the true test of the level of modern civilisation.
Conseqently, CNPP wishes to warn that Nigeria cannot pretend to be a democracy, without abiding faith in the sanctity of the ballot box and independence of the judiciary.
GOOD-BYE-DEMOCRACY.
