RIBADU DISMISSAL AND RULE OF LAW
Conference of Nigeria Political Parties {CNPP} condemns in totality the ignoble dismissal of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu from the Nigeria Police Force.
Ribadu's dismissal has exposed the deficit of the rule of law mantra of President Umaru Musa Yaradua regime; it makes mockery of the war against corruption and sends wrong signal to the international community.
Ribadu's dismissal is against natural justice, contravenes the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, violates African Charter on Human and Peoples Rights, hence contempt of court.
What on earth called for the undue haste in dismissing a man whose case is still pending in court? Why not ask for the acceleration of the case and get judgment before dismissing Ribadu?
The greatest casuality of the ignoble act; is the war against corruption, for no officer will show the passion Ribadu had shown without fear that he might be paid with bad coin.
Whereas, we agree that Ribadu had his excesses; however he does not deserve the bad cion he was paid with.
