ABIA STATE GOVT IS CRYING WOLF

The attention of the Human Rights, Justice and Peace Foundation (HRJPF) has been drawn to a story captioned "Govt Uncovers Opposition Plan To Unleash Terror" published by the Leadership of January 16, 2009.

According to the story credited to the Chief Press Secretary to the Abia State Governor, Mr. Sam Hart, a "top member of the opposition had been holding meetings in his private residence along government station layout in Umuahia where plans are been perfected…not only to burn down houses owned by individuals but also to cause civil unrest in the state."

Although the HRJPF does not intend to hold brief for any opposition leader in the state, it strongly believes the Abia State Government is crying wolf where there is none. Governor T. A. Orji whose continued occupation of Government House, Umuahia has been sources of disappointments and frustrations to the majority of Abia people is laying foundations for unwarranted and irresponsible clampdowns on those challenging his criminal ruination of the state.

Accordingly, should there be any case of arson or vandalization in any part of the ill-fated state, security agents should promptly arrest and prosecute Mr. Sam Hart, the new Abia State prophet of doom.

Enough is enough!
